How to Use ClawDroid

Install the APK, plug in your AI key, and let the claw do the thinking.

Install the APK

Download the latest release APK from GitHub or build it yourself. Requires Android 12+ (SDK 31).

  • Go to Releases and grab clawdroid.apk
  • Enable Install from unknown sources in Settings → Security
  • Tap the APK and install

Set Up Your AI Provider

On first launch you'll see the API Setup screen. Pick your provider and paste your key.

  • OpenAI — GPT-4o, GPT-4 Turbo, etc.
  • Anthropic — Claude 3.5 Sonnet, Opus, Haiku
  • Grok — xAI's Grok models
  • Gemini — Google's Gemini Pro / Ultra
  • Custom — Any OpenAI-compatible endpoint URL

Your key is stored locally with Jetpack DataStore. It never leaves your device.

Grant Permissions

ClawDroid will request permissions as you use each feature. Nothing is mandatory up front.

  • Microphone — for voice commands (SpeechRecognizer)

Start the Agent

Hit the power button on the Dashboard. ClawDroid runs as a foreground service in the background.

  • The status card turns green when active
  • Tick counter shows processing cycles
  • Disable battery optimization for uninterrupted operation

Voice & Camera

Tap the quick action cards on the Dashboard to interact with the AI through voice or camera.

  • Voice — Tap "Speak Command", talk naturally, ClawDroid converts to text and sends to your AI
  • Camera — Live preview with ML Kit text recognition & image labeling, results processed by AI

Messaging & Automation

Enable notification listening to let ClawDroid respond to messages and execute device actions.

  • Send @ClawDroid in WhatsApp or Telegram to trigger the agent
  • AI can return JSON actions — open URLs, create calendar events, compose emails, manage files
  • Telegram Bot API integration for direct bot replies
  • Configure opted-in apps and triggers in Messaging Settings
